Two ancient sites in Cyprus. Choirokoitia (Khirokitia) has 2 tickets and tours to book; Salamis has 12 tickets and tours to book. The table and the two notes below put them side by side; the full pages have what to see, the ticket and the timing for each.
Choirokoitia is a Neolithic village on a hillside above the Maroni river in southern Cyprus, founded around 7000 BC and one of the best-preserved prehistoric settlements in the eastern Mediterranean. Its round stone houses and massive village wall are visible along a hillside path, and five houses have been rebuilt beside the entrance.
Salamis, on the east coast of Cyprus 6 km north of Famagusta, was the island's leading city-kingdom for more than a thousand years. Its excavated Roman gymnasium, baths with mosaics and a restored theatre stand among pine woods by the sea, with royal tombs of the 8th century BC just inland.
