Most visited ancient sites in the United States

National Park Service counts supply every figure on this list, but the years are not the same. Mesa Verde in south-western Colorado, with its Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings, had about 480,000 visits in 2024. The Arizona sites, Montezuma Castle, Wupatki and Tuzigoot, all built by the Sinagua, and Canyon de Chelly on the Navajo Nation are counted for 2020, a pandemic year, so their normal totals are higher. Montezuma Castle is a short stop off Interstate 17; most of Canyon de Chelly's floor can be visited only with a Navajo guide.
