Ancient sites near Catania

Catania has two Roman sites of its own: the amphitheatre, partly visible from Piazza Stesicoro, and the Roman Theatre on Via Vittorio Emanuele, ten minutes' walk from the Duomo. Taormina's Greek theatre is about 1 hour 15 minutes away by bus, and the Neapolis park in Syracuse an hour by Interbus coach. Pantalica, Morgantina and Cava d'Ispica need a car; Morgantina and the Villa Romana del Casale pair well in one inland day. In July and August arrive at opening, before the heat and the coach groups.
