Bulgaria's list jumps from prehistory to the Romans with little in between. Nebet Tepe, the rocky hill in Plovdiv's old town, is dated c. 4000 BC for its earliest settlement, though the walls seen today are Thracian, Roman and Byzantine. The Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak, 4th century BC, is shown through a replica beside the sealed original. Plovdiv adds the Roman theatre of Philippopolis, c. AD 90, and the stadium under the main shopping street; the Madara Rider, a rock relief of c. 710 from the reign of Khan Tervel, closes the list.
