UNESCO World Heritage sites in Tunisia

Tunisia has three entries here, each with its own World Heritage listing and each showing a different side of the country's past. Carthage, in the suburbs of Tunis, has by far the most tours; its Punic and Roman remains are spread over several separate sites covered by one pass and linked by the TGM light railway. Dougga, about two hours west, is one of the best-preserved Roman towns in North Africa, with its theatre and Capitol on a hillside. Kerkouane on Cap Bon is a Punic town that Rome never rebuilt.
